This position description is an integral part of Bright Beginnings’ (BB) contract with the employee.

General Functions Hire staff and develop administrative processes, policies, procedures, and programs that will implement the directives of the Executive Director (ED). In addition to maintaining the functioning of the school, the Director will maintain a testimony for Christ, personally and for the school.

The Director shall possess the following characteristics:

- A broad acceptance of and by the Christian community.
- A strong knowledge and understanding of Scripture · An active involvement in his or her local church.

Professionally:
The following shall characterize the Director:
- An ability to articulate a Christian philosophy of education consistent with Scripture.
- An ability to communicate effectively in English, and ideally in Spanish.
- An awareness/understanding of the values, outlooks, and culture norms of North America.
- An awareness/understanding of the diversity of values cultures within the community and across the globe.
- Demonstration of executive and management skills and presence.
- Effectiveness in oral and written communication.
- A deep understanding and empathy for the Christian school and the Christian school movement.
- A commitment to gender and racial diversity at all levels in the workplace.
- Evidence of being a team player who is responsive to the ED and the school staff.
- Willingness to subordinate his or her personal agenda for the sake of the school.
- An openness to new ideas, initiatives, and concepts in education.
- Engagement in continuing education and professional and spiritual development.
- Credentials that are appropriate for leading the school and its faculty in its educational mission.
Preferred: Experience as a Christian school administrator and/or teaching experience in a Christian school preferred

Accountability:
The Director will do the following:
- Attend Bright Beginnings Committee meetings unless the Committee is in executive session preparing for evaluating the Executive Director.
- Give a written report monthly or when requested by the Committee or the Church Council.
- Perform all responsibilities consistent with Committee policies.
- Keep the Committee informed of significant issues or potential crises through the Committee chairperson.
- Give support and demonstrate loyalty to the Committee and Executive Director at all times.
Leadership:
The director will lead in such a way that the following are characteristic of the school:
- Healthy relationships are maintained with staff, parents, and the greater community.
- Expected student outcomes are thoroughly addressed through educational programs.
- Educational programs develop students who have a biblical worldview and who are well prepared in all academic disciplines.
- A rigorous social-emotional development program as well as academic programming designed to meet the needs of students is in place.
- Admission policies are in place that ensure and fulfill the vision and mission of the school.
- Clearly implemented channels of communication function with the staff and the Committee.
- Concerns and issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
- A professional in-service program exists that is systematically reviewed and implemented for the academic and spiritual growth of the staff.
- Educational change and innovation are let by the leadership.
- A strategic plan is implemented and reviewed annually.
- An annual budget is developed and managed on the basis of real cost accounting principles.
- Compensation packages are in accordance with the corresponding positions and recognize the worth of staff Leadership decisions, relationships, and programs are consistent with Committee policies.

Functions and Responsibilities – Health & Safety:
- Comply with the legal framework and the policies, standards, regulations, and instructions of State of New Mexico Licensure, accreditation, and other related requirements.
- Ensure one's own comprehensive health care. Provide clear, truthful, and complete information about one´s own health status and work performance to each supervisor and/or HR.
- Participate in occupational health and safety training activities as defined in the BB training plan.
- Fulfill any other responsibilities established in UUMC and BB policies, procedures, and documents.
- Ensure the implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OSHMS), in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
- Define, approve, sign, and communicate the Background Safety policy, promoting its application at all levels of the organization.
- Allocate and ensure the availability of the human, technical, physical, and financial resources necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety obligations by employees, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure hazard identification, risk assessment and evaluation, as well as the implementation and monitoring of prevention and control measures.
- Ensure the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety training, induction, and re-induction programs.
- Lead management reviews, periodically evaluate the performance of and approve improvement plans resulting from audits, inspections, and investigations of incidents, accidents, and/or diseases.
- Ensure timely reporting, investigation, follow-up, and closure of incidents, accidents, and/or diseases, as well as the implementation of corrective, preventive, and improvement actions.

Position Profile:
- Education preferred: Master’s degree in school leadership or similar.
- Experience needed: At least 3 years of classroom experience and at least 3 years of school leadership experience.
Technology level: Proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and Google Applications (Drive, Calendar and Email)
Salary: Commensurate with experience and education
